2020 Shippensburg Summer Lunch Program Assistant Job Description
The Shippensburg Summer Lunch Program (SLP) strives to improve the quality of life for children under age 18 residing in the Shippensburg area community by providing meals and activities every weekday Monday through Friday from June 8 through July 31, 2020, from 8:30 am until noon. The program is supported by a wide range of churches, social service organizations, the local school district, and other funders. The Program Assistant aids with daily activities, behavior management, and meal service under the supervision of the SLP Director. The Program Assistant also works with community volunteers and parents who help to make the program successful. Work hours for the Program Assistant are 8:00 am – 1:00 pm, with some flexibility needed for field trips and staff meetings.

Program Assistant Qualifications:

High school diploma

Experience working with children
-
Responsible, reliable, and assertive

Ability to provide current, acceptable clearances (Criminal, Child Abuse, FBI)

First Aid/CPR/AED training necessary, but will be provided

Completion of online Mandated Reporter training

Program Assistant Responsibilities:

Assist with daily activities

Assist with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup

Implement behavior management plan for the program

Communicate regularly with Program Director

Other duties as assigned for program implementation

Compensation is $12/hour for a maximum of 25 hours per week for 7 weeks of programming.

The Shippensburg Summer Lunch Program (SLP) strives to improve the quality of life for children under age 18 residing in the Shippensburg area community by providing meals and activities every weekday Monday through Friday from June 8 through July 31, 2020 from 8:30 am until noon. The program is supported by a wide range of churches, social service organizations, the local school district, and other funders. The SLP Program Director is responsible for the overall implementation and management of the program under the supervision of the Shippensburg Community Resource Coalition Community Youth Mobilizer and Board of Directors. The start date for the Program Director is approximately May 26, 2020 and the work hours are 7:30 am – 3:00 pm, with some flexibility required for field trips and staff meetings.

Program Director Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field, or commensurate experience

Experience working with children

Experience collaborating with community agencies

Detail-oriented, assertive, and well-organized

Program Director Responsibilities:

Coordinate efforts of community partners

Conduct outreach efforts

Develop and implement a behavior management plan for the program

Supervise program assistants and volunteers

Arrange for food preparation, food service, and clean up

Ensure all monitoring requirements are met and ensure safe and sanitary conditions

Adjust meal orders, receive and account for delivered meals

Maintain records

Purchase supplies

Plan and organize daily site activities, including field trips

Coordinate transportation as necessary
Compensation is $15/hour for a maximum of 37.5 hours per week for 9 weeks (7 weeks of programming and 2 weeks of planning prior to program start)
